Summary
Bookmaker is my second-favorite US-friendly roulette casino.
The company is as old as it gets (and their website shows it), but their sportsbook is renowned for being second-to-none when it comes to taking bets from winning players. And true to form, their casino operation is equally as respectable.
The major downside is that they only offer the American version of roulette, which has the worst house edge at 5.26%. This is disappointing, because everything else about Bookmaker is so good.
Even though they do not offer a great selection of roulette games, I'm compelled to give them a mention nonetheless due to their reliability as a company.

Bookmaker as a company have been around since 1985 (yes, you heard me) and their website has been online since 1996. So you are correct, that does make them the oldest gambling website you're going to find on the Internet.
And why are they still running?
Because they don't ban winning players from their sportsbook. Most sportsbooks will allow customers to win for a while, but if they realize you're a professional sports bettor they'll readily find a reason to ban your from their site. Bookmaker, however, does not.
They've built up a reputation for fairness and integrity that's unsurpassed by any other online gambling operation. So whilst it may appear from looking at their website that they're a relic from the past, they actually have an active and devoted legion of customers that continues to grow through word-of-mouth.
So don't be too quick to judge their old-school design… because it's their old-school ways that make them one of the best.
Other than that, the company is based in Costa Rica and hold a Costa Rica "Gambling License". This is typically one of the most relaxed and easiest-to-acquire gambling licenses, so it's not always held in the highest regard. However, it affords them the freedom to accept players from all over the world (e.g. United States), and their standards are high enough to not get any benefit from external regulation, so in this instance it's a partnership that works well.
In short, Bookmaker.eu is the gold standard for online gambling.
Bookmaker changed their domain name from Bookmaker.com to Bookmaker.eu in 2011. The US government was able to seize the .com domains of some gambling companies around this time, so they moved to the safer .eu extension (and have been using it ever since).

Website: Okay
Bookmaker was established in 1997, and it sure looks like it.
It's by far the most basic online casino on the Internet. There's not much to say about it, other than they're clearly not too bothered about trying to impress you with website design. It looks like a prototype HTML template that you could whip up in a day, and still have time to completely update your Myspace profile afterwards.
But this is all part of the charm of Bookmaker. They're a simple company with a simple website. They offer simple casino games, and they'll simply pay you when you win.
What more are you looking for?
We're really tapping in to the essence of gambling on the Internet here. Sure, it would be nice if their website was a little flashier and a little more responsive, but don't let the basic template put you off. If you want to wager a large amount of money on the spin of the wheel and get paid if you win, Bookmaker.eu offer that service. They're not here to distract you with flashing banners or bonus popups.
If you win big at Bookmaker, they'll pay out without blinking an eye.
Not everyone is going to like the old-school design, but in a world of slow loading javascript beasts, the Bookmaker.eu website is a breath of fresh air.
Mobile: Okay
- Mobile: Yes
- iPhone App: No
- Android App: No
The Bookmaker mobile experience is also refreshingly simple.
It comes as no surprise that they do not offer an iPhone or Android app. I'm not even sure if the people at Bookmaker even use smartphones.
Instead you've got the simplest and fastest-loading mobile casino you'll have the pleasure of using. Honestly, it makes you wonder why other online casinos take so long to load, when all you really need to do is display the games on offer in a simple grid on the webpage. Sometimes sticking to the old way of doing things actually works.
It's not perfect though, because the casino games open in a new tab you need to close them manually (or double-tap the "back" button) to fully exit the actual casino games. But to be honest that doesn't take anything away from the overall experience.
So whilst it's not going to be the prettiest mobile casino you've ever used, it's sure as hell going to be the fastest.
Games: Poor
Roulette Variants:
- Live Roulette: No
- Racetrack: No
- La Partage / En Prison: No
Providers:
It's slim pickings when it comes to the variety of casino games at Bookmaker.eu.
Bookmaker is primarily an online sportsbook, and their casino is more of a token gesture for anyone who likes to gamble on roulette or blackjack in between betting on sports. So whilst they do have a casino, it's clearly not the main focus of their operation.
Furthermore they also only offer the American version of roulette, which is the worst version of roulette in terms of odds for the player. So if anything, if you enter the Bookmaker casino you're best off sticking to blackjack instead.
There's no Live Casino either.
It might seem strange that I would recommend Bookmaker.eu as a casino when they don't even offer the best versions of roulette (and a very limited selection of other games), but they're such an honest operation that I feel compelled to make you aware of them. If you're looking to gamble online, Bookmaker.eu is as good as you're going to get.
It's a shame they don't offer a wider variety of casino games. But hey ho, it's better than nothing.
The casino games at Bookmaker are basic, but they're also difficult to find anywhere else.
Banking: Good
- Deposit Time: Instant
- Payout Time: 1-2 Days
Bookmaker.eu are no stranger to processing sizeable transactions.
Bookmaker primarily uses bitcoin for deposits and withdrawals, but they also accept credit cards where available. The easiest way to find out if they accept credit cards from your country is to create an account and see if the option for credit/debit cards is available in the cashier.
But in general, it's easiest to think of Bookmaker as being a bitcoin-only casino. Anything else is a bonus.
The reason they use bitcoin is flexibility. It makes it far easier them to process payments from people all over the world without the overheads that come with traditional payment methods. At the end of the day their job is to offer odds, take wagers, and pay winners… and bitcoin allows them to perform this role as efficiently as possible.
But trust me when I say that once you've used bitcoin for the first time, you won't go back.
Anyway, deposits are instant, and withdrawals are processed in a day. They've been processing payments for longer than many of their players have been alive, so you're in reliable hands here.
Bonus: Okay
- 72 hours
- 80x Bonus Amount
Blackjack Only. This bonus can only be redeemed by playing blackjack.
Winnings Only. Only winnings will be credited to your account if you meet the wagering requirements.
Bookmaker offer a couple of interesting bonuses, but the one you'll be most interested in is the one you can redeem through playing blackjack (so it doesn't work on roulette I'm afraid).
In short, it's a fast-paced 72 hour bonus period where you've got to try and wager 80x
the bonus amount. This seems high at first, but considering most casinos heavily discount table games and push them in to the 300x (and above) rollover range, this is actually generously low.
So for example, if you deposit $250, you'll get a $250 bonus. You've now got 72 hours to try and wager 80 x $250 = $20,000
. So you're best bet is to just play as many hands of blackjack as you can and hope to high-heaven that you get lucky. The chances are that you won't, but the bonus does give you a little help in your endeavor.
It's certainly a wild ride of a bonus than a steady one that you work to redeem. It's up to you if you go for it, but I know some gamblers will appreciate the offer.
I like the bonus. It's not for everyone, but it's nice to see an online casino offering a simple bonus for once with straightforward terms and conditions.
Support: Good
- Live Chat
- [email protected]
- n/a
Support at Bookmaker is solid. But the best part is it's unlikely you'll ever need it.
Bookmaker run a simple but tight operation, and they do not leave room for much to go wrong. They've been in this game for well over 30 years, so they've have had the time and experience to construct a tight ship.
But still, on the off-chance you need to get in touch with anyone at Bookmaker, their main methods of contact are through Live Chat and Email:
- Live Chat - Best for quick and small questions, or anything that is urgent.
- Email - Ideal if you don't mind waiting a little longer for a reply.
Bookmaker have been around long enough to know that player happiness is paramount, and their support reflects that. But they've also been around long enough to know that the best kind of support is the one that you do not need to use, because everything runs as you expect.
They also have Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages, which seems a bit out of character for an old-school bookmaker like this one. However, they're not used for support, so if you need help get in touch with them privately and directly through their live chat or email.
Conclusion: A
Bookmaker is a solid sports betting website that also offers a casino on the side. Their casino offering is far from the best, but the high standard of the company makes them worth checking out.
If you bet on sports, you're going to get an account Bookmaker.eu at some point.
If you're only visiting Bookmaker for their casino games, I admit you'll be underwhelmed. Plus the fact they only offer American roulette (the variant with the highest house edge) is even more disappointing. But they do offer casino games, and that's good enough for me to put in a recommendation for them here.
It might not be your first choice for playing roulette online, but you should be aware this company exists.
Plus you may have more luck betting on sports than playing casino games anyway, if you catch my drift.
